Streaming TV?
Switch to Wired Ethernet
Though convenient, Wi-Fi can be quite slow on some networks, especially if multiple people are streaming at once. Wired internet, aka Ethernet, is a lot faster and doesn’t have issues with walls, interference or distance (well, not in a house, anyway). Even though running wires can be annoying, it provides the most reliable connection and can be worth it on at least your main TV.

Ethernet Benefits
Although Ethernet adds an “extra wire” into the mix, Ethernet-connected gaming is arguably the king of internet-based play. A wire connection gives players access to the maximum speeds possible, which will cut down on the time required to download updates, new games, and perform other tasks (dependent on a gamer’s chosen ISP and the internet speeds available in their area). It’s generally cheaper for players to milk all the speed they possibly can from a wired connection, as Ethernet cables aren’t inherently expensive in the modern age, even at longer lengths.

Modem & router requirements
The remote technology department has determined that modem/router combinations often cause connection problems with company-issued phones that can prevent connection. You will need to add a router into your network that meets the following guidelines:
• Ethernet ports wired for gigabit speed connections.
• Availability of at least two (2) Ethernet connections to the internet source is required (for your PC and phone).
• Your modem or router must either be in the same room as your workspace or you must have an Ethernet cord long enough to reach your workspace to meet this requirement. Working wirelessly is prohibited.
